CHAD-EQUATORIAL GUINEA: An emissary of President Theodoro Obiang Nguema received by the Head of State

The President of the Republic Head of State, MAHAMAT IDRISS DEBY ITNO, received in audience this afternoon Mr. Simeon Oyono Esono Angue, Equatorial Guinean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Special Envoy of the President, Theodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. He carries a message from his President which he transmitted to the Head of State.

The strengthening of bilateral cooperation but also the tragic fire at the ammunition depot which caused deaths, injuries and material damage, on the night of June 18 to 19, 2024 in N'Djamena, are among the concerns of the Head of the Equatorial Guinean State.

Chad and Equatorial Guinea, which belong to the same political and economic group, consult regularly on their bilateral cooperation but also on questions of common interest, both on the sub-regional and international level.

It is in this dynamic that President Theodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo dispatched his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Simeon Oyono Esono to send a closed letter to his counterpart MAHAMAT IDRISS DEBY ITNO.

On behalf of President Theodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the envoy expressed his deep condolences to the Government and the people of Chad for the loss of life and material damage caused by the fire at an ammunition depot in N'Djamena in the night of June 18 to 19, 2024. This tragic incident sparked a wave of international solidarity and Equatorial Guinea wanted to show its support at this difficult moment.

Minister Simeon Oyono Esono welcomed the warm welcome, availability and sense of listening of the Head of State, MAHAMAT IDRISS DEBY ITNO, underlining the importance of exchanges for strengthening ties between Chad and Equatorial Guinea on the one hand and the Central Africa sub-region on the other.
