#Diplomacy | Ivory Coast-Senegal: The new Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye invites President Ouattara to an official visit to Senegal

Abidjan, May 7, 2024 - The new Senegalese President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, formally announced an invitation to the President of the Republic of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, for an upcoming official visit to Senegal.

It was during their discussions, on Tuesday May 7, 2024, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan-Plateau during the one-day friendship and working visit he made to Ivory Coast at the head of a strong delegation.

According to the Senegalese President, this official visit will be “an opportunity to deepen reflections on many subjects of cooperation, African integration and also questions that interest the world”.

He praised President Alassane Ouattara and the Ivorian people for the welcome and hospitality extended to him and his strong delegation.

It was on March 24, 2024 that Bassirou Diomaye Faye, fifth President of Senegal, was elected in the first round of the presidential election with 54.28% of the votes and was inaugurated on April 2. This, in the presence of several Heads of State or their representatives including the Ivorian Vice-President, Tiemoko Meyliet Koné.
