SOCIAL DIALOGUE: Union leaders signatories of the Social Pact received by the Head of State

The Transitional President, President of the Republic, Head of State, General MAHAMAT IDRISS DEBY ITNO received in audience this afternoon the leaders of the unions signatories of the Triennial Social Pact.

The discussions between the Head of State and the social partners made it possible to take stock of the application of the Triennial Social Pact.

After several weeks of persistent strikes, the Government and the union leaders who signed the Triennial Social Pact reached an agreement on March 18. Agreement at the end of which the Government has made a commitment to satisfy certain points of demands linked to the three-year social pact by the end of the current month.

These include, among other things, the settlement of arrears in transport costs, the payment of chalk and housing bonuses, the reinstatement of more than 1,300 civil servants suspended during the census five years ago with financial effect or even the payment of salaries of teachers and doctors recruited to the Civil Service.

A deadline of 10 days from March 20 to 30, 2024 was granted by the social partners.

Four days before the expiration of this deadline, the President of the Transition, President of the Republic, Head of State, General MAHAMAT IDRISS DEBY ITNO, guarantor of the Triennial Social Pact signed on October 4, 2021 between the government and the social partners, receives the leaders having affixed their signatures at the bottom of the said document.

Without filter, the Head of State spoke for more than two hours with these social partners in the presence of the members of the Government concerned and his close collaborators.

At the end of the discussions and in addition to the commitments made by the Government on March 18, 2024, the Transitional President ordered the full application of all the points contained in the Triennial Social Pact signed on October 4, 2021.

Before October 2024, is the deadline set by the Head of State to the Government for execution.
